We’re delighted to announce the appointment of Steven Jones as our new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), strengthening our executive leadership team as we continue to grow and sharpen our focus on identity‑centric security.

Steven joins us at an important point in our journey. As we look ahead to the new financial year, identity remains central to how we help organisations improve security, resilience and confidence in their digital environments.

As CTO, Steven will be responsible for shaping our technology strategy, providing architectural oversight and supporting the continued evolution of our services and propositions. He will play a key role in ensuring everything we deliver remains aligned to the Microsoft identity and security roadmap, as well as the real‑world challenges faced by our customers.

Strengthening our leadership in Identity

Identity has been a core focus for Kocho from the start. As an original identity-first Microsoft partner, we’ve grown alongside Microsoft’s identity platform and security roadmap. Steven’s appointment reflects the importance of dedicated technical leadership as identity continues to evolve across workforce, customer and increasingly non-human environments (including service accounts, workloads and emerging agentic systems).

By bringing Steven into our executive team, we’re strengthening ownership of how identity and access management is designed, delivered and scaled across our portfolio – helping customers move from tactical controls to sustained maturity.

As we move into FY27, we’re placing even greater emphasis on helping organisations progress beyond point solutions towards sustained identity maturity. That means supporting customers with structured approaches to governance, visibility and risk reduction across increasingly complex identity estates.

Hannah Birch, CEO at Kocho, said:

“Steven brings a rare combination of deep identity expertise and practical delivery leadership. As Identity continues to shape how organisations think about security and resilience, his experience will be central to how we evolve our services and support our clients.”

Supporting innovation and proposition development

As CTO, Steven will also play an important role in guiding the evolution of our propositions. In particular, he will help steer identity and security innovations, such as the Alira Access Portal, so we can deliver market-leading capability in a consistent, repeatable way and unlock greater value for our clients.

Many organisations struggle to gain a clear view of identity risk across users, platforms and applications. Building confidence in identity security requires consistent approaches that combine strong technical foundations with practical delivery experience. Steven’s leadership will help ensure our capabilities in this area remain robust, repeatable and grounded in real customer needs.

“Identity has never been more central to how organisations protect themselves and enable their people.” Steven said, adding “I’m joining Kocho at a moment when that conversation is really accelerating, and I’m looking forward to working with the team to help our customers build lasting identity maturity that are robust, scalable and genuinely fit for the threats they face. Kocho’s heritage in this space and its relationship with Microsoft make it the perfect platform to do just that.”

A bit about Steven

Steven brings more than a decade of experience working in identity and security. He joins Kocho from Amido (latterly part of Ensono), where he spent 10 years progressing from consultant to Vice President of Digital Consulting, a role he held for the past two years. In that capacity, he led practices spanning identity, application development, and data and AI, supporting a blue-chip and enterprise client base across insurance, retail, manufacturing, and financial services.

Earlier in his career, Steven worked in product and software development roles, primarily within supply chain and retail. He’s also acted as technical lead on large-scale workforce and customer identity platform implementations, spanning joiner, mover and leaver processes, identity governance and administration, and secure authentication platforms.

Steven has delivered identity programmes across a range of sectors, including media, retail, government, and critical national infrastructure. This background gives him a strong understanding of how identity platforms operate at enterprise scale, and how organisations can turn identity strategy into secure, practical outcomes.

By strengthening our technology leadership at board level, we’re reinforcing our commitment to innovation that adds true value to the organisations with whom we work. Steven will help ensure our technology strategy, architecture and propositions continue to evolve in line with the Microsoft identity and security roadmap, and in line with the real challenges our customers face.
