Kocho proud to support Women in Cyber event

There’s no getting away from the fact that cybersecurity remains an industry dominated by men.

But rather than lament female underrepresentation in the sector, the focus of Resilient Futures: Women in Cyber, held at the International Conference Centre in Newport, was firmly upon celebrating the extraordinary talents, deep expertise, and amazing work being done by the women making a difference in cybersecurity today.

And Kocho were proud to support the event as an official sponsor.

Celebrate, educate, and inspire

“Women in Cyber is about showcasing the remarkable, often unsung, contributions of the women doing amazing things in the sector,” said Dr Clare Johnson, Founder and Director of Women in Cyber Unlimited.

“From defending against cyber threats and analysing risks to shaping security strategies and supporting the mental well-being of a high-pressure workforce, these are leading experts at the forefront of the industry.”

“Today’s event is about learning from their experience, celebrating their achievements, and tackling the biggest challenges in cybersecurity together.”

It’s a message fully endorsed by a Kocho team built on the ethos that diverse workforces are the driving force for innovation and inspiration.

Inspiring the next generation

As well as keynote speeches and workshops, the day provided a platform to inspire future talent.

Girls from local schools and colleges were invited along to the event and had the chance to hear from and engage with industry experts and organisations. These budding cyber enthusiasts were given a glimpse into the possibilities available within the cybersecurity space, leaving inspired to take on the mantle and become the next generation of specialists.

It’s something that’s close to the heart of Kocho’s Head of Security Operations (SOC), Anna Webb. Not only a prominent leader in the cybersecurity sector, but as a Microsoft Changemaker and ambassador for Cyber First in Wales, Anna is passionate about finding the next generation of cyber talent.

“Events like Women in Cyber really highlight the high level of talent and expertise that women are contributing to the sector,” she said. “Not only is it an opportunity to hear stories from women across the industry, but also a chance to offer real-world insight and hopefully inspire those looking to join this exciting sector.”

Anna also took to the stage during the day-long event, delivering a presentation on current security trends and sharing the tactics employed by the Kocho SOC team to counter modern cyber threats.
